Our Company History

Over 45 years of logistics experience, grown through passion, reliability and true partnerships.


2005 — Founded

4PL Logistics & Consulting was founded at locations in Aesch, Münchenstein, Reinach and Pratteln. Built on years of experience in developing sales and freight forwarding divisions. Early clients included Crossair, Swiss International Airlines, Lufthansa Technik and major European retailers including Aldi, Penny, Lidl and the REWE Group.

The founding was no coincidence — it was the result of a long and deliberately chosen path. Years before establishing 4PL, René Meyer had held senior leadership positions at internationally renowned organisations, including BBC (now General Motors), DHL Express, Deutsche Post and ELS European Logistics Services GmbH. Across these roles, he developed deep operational and strategic expertise in the transport and logistics industry: from managing complex supply chains and building sales organisations to leading international teams.

It was from this foundation that René Meyer founded 4PL Logistics & Consulting in 2005 — with the clear ambition of channelling decades of industry experience into an independent company and offering clients something genuinely different: expertise earned in the real world, not just on paper.


2008

Opened sales offices in Zurich and Mendrisio.


2009

Established a commissioning warehouse for 1,200 pallets with national fine distribution, 24x7x365.


2010

Relocated from Pratteln to Wil AG in the Mettauer Valley.


2011

Built the Benelux traffic corridor with daily connections to Switzerland and national fine distribution, 24x7x365.


2012

Assumed European transport operations for a renowned manufacturer of bathroom and kitchen equipment.


2016

Became Road Service Partner for an international logistics provider handling partial and full loads.


2019

Relocated from Wil AG to Etzgen AG.


2020

New food sector services launched: fresh produce transport with 3 refrigerated vehicles and regular scheduled routes for major distributors and suppliers, around the clock, 7 days a week.
